Chapter 4 – Obituary #3
Elisabeth Sue Hornbrook was preceded in death by her father, the good Reverend Lynn William Hornbrook, and her brother, Seth William Hornbrook.
She was 29 years old.

I heard about Elly’s death through an email.
Nobody called. I mourned alone. The unbearable had become routine. Paralysis had become anesthesia, a winter in the bone to fight off feeling.
The family tree withered at the roots.
The question was no longer why.
The question was who’s next.
